Is Kate Middleton using the famous Dukan Diet Plan?  Actually, its Mrs. Carole Middleton who claimed to have used this Dukan Diet, revealing that she was actually surviving in cottage cheese and prawns. ‘I’ve been doing it for four days and I’ve lost 4lb,’ she claimed. So what really is the Dukan Diet? EVERYONE seems to be talking about this diet. The plan is actually a "hyperprotein" diet having four phases and with four specific guidelines. The Dukan Diet by Dr. Pierre Dukan

No, to all of you who are thinking that it's all about the hype, it is really NOT a quick fix diet. Although you may see quick results, it takes a real, solid plan and specific steps to consolidate. Consolidation - that's they key.

During the diet, you have to walk 30 minutes daily to mobilize fatty tissue.

Phase One or Attack Phase

This phase starts with an encouragingly speedy weight loss composed of a diet of lean protein, and a special and very specific ingredient, the OAT BRAN. Oat bran is a key ingredient as Dr. Dukan explained that it makes you feel full and satisfied. It also flushes out calories, cleanses, speeds up digestion, and decreases the bad cholesterol from the body.

Phase one of the Dukan diet is a focuses on speeding up your metabolism hence promoting weight loss. It is important to know at first how many kilos you want to lose, because there are specific length of phase one associated with each:

• If you want to lose 5 kilos, phase 1 should last 1 days.
• If you want to lose between 6 and 10, 3 days.
• If you want to lose between 11 and 19, 5 days.
• If you want to lose 20 kilos or more, will last 10 days.

The foods allowed in this phase are:

• Smoked salmon.
• Shellfish, crustaceans and fish.
• Skinless chicken.
• Turkey and ham.
• Roast veal chops.
• Beef liver, beef or chicken.
• Whitefish.
• Eggs, with up to 4 yolks per week.
• Cheese and low fat yogurt (0%), sugar-free.

Can not be taken at this stage of pork, lamb or duck. The food is not cooked with oil , butter or fat. You should drink a half liter of water a day. You must add a half tablespoon of oat bran dairy foods allowed.

Phase Two - The Cruise Phase

Phase two aims to achieve the desired weight and it alternates a protein-only day with another protein and vegetable. The vegetables also has specifications such that it should not be starchy (potatoes) or fatty (avocados).

Foods of phase two are:

• On the day only proteins, you can eat what is allowed in phase one.
• On the day on which you can add vegetables to eat: leafy greens (like broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, spinach, chard). Also you can eat tomatoes, leeks, green beans, cabbage, cauliflower, mushrooms, eggplant, fennel, garlic, zucchini, peppers, asparagus, cucumbers and radishes.
• You can not eat potatoes, corn, peas, beans and lentils
• Should be placed as much a teaspoon of vegetable oil to season.
• The stage ends when you reach the desired weight.

Phase Three or Consolidation Phase

This is the most critical phase. Phase three aims to prevent the "yo-yo" effect and stay in this weight. In this phase, you should add a serving of fruit and 2 slices of whole wheat bread a day, and is all about keeping the weight off.

You can eat he following in Phase three:

Lamb, roast pork and ham.
1 or 2 fruits a day. Are all allowed under: banana, grape, cherry and dried fruit.
2 slices of bread a day. At best, add a tablespoon of butter or low fat cheese.
40 grams of cheese per day, less fermented cheese.
2 servings of starchy foods per week (250 grams of pasta, lentils or beans)
1 time per week: rice or baked potato.

Phase Four or Stabilization Phase


It is the stage that lasts the rest of your life. Where it becomes integrated into your system and the eating habits have become normal, therefore you can now pretty much eat whatever you want, as long as you return to eating pure protein for one day per week.

Indications at this stage:

• One day a week, make a protein diet based on foods from phase one.
• Eat three tablespoons of oat bran daily.
• Eat foods from consolidation phase to prevent weight gain.

The Dukan Diet Plan also includes 6 glasses of water, 200 minutes of walking everyday, but the last key to remember is oat bran. :-)
